Even though they have bowled in four out of his 5 seasons, Steve Spurrier has yet to live up to the buzz that accompanied him when he took over as coach of South Carolina in 2005. Spurrier is a former college and pro football competitor who played with the University of Florida and then the San Francisco 49ers and the Bucs. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1966 and is also in the College Football Hall of Fame. He was head coach of the University of Florida Gators and took them to 6 SEC championships. Spurrier signed on to be the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks at the conclusion of 2004 and coached his 1st season in 2005.

If he can get junior quarterback Stephen Garcia to play with more consistency the Gamecocks could at last have that breakthrough season they have always dreamed of, and this looks to be Spurrier’s top squad yet at USC.
